Be a Mystery Client

This is your chance to eat for free, shop for free, travel for free and more. Become part of a team of both customers and businesses sharing the same common goal — improving the service industry.

The rules are simple.

You will visit a business as a customer. An amount you have to spend will be agreed on beforehand with the business and you will be given a questionnaire (the Mystery Client Report) to fill out about your experience. We will review the questionnaire with you and give you further advice and training when necessary. At the end your visit you will pay the bill as normal and ask for a receipt if one has not been supplied. You will then leave the business and fill out the questionnaire (the Mystery Client report). Email us a copy of the report and receipt if possible. Mail the original copy together with the receipt to the TBSTG mailing address. When we receive the receipt we will refund you the cost of your visit within 24 hours.

To do this you need to have an open mind. Remember you are not writing a restaurant review for the New York Times. Even if you are a writer you need to be more concise with your mission as our Mystery Client Reports serve two purposes and they are structured accordingly:

• You are there to verify that the information supplied by the company is correct. If they say “a beautiful view over the harbour” the business needs to be overlooking the harbour. In addition to the criteria the business will add questions to the Mystery Client Report that helps them with their current business focus. Questions may include: Were you greeted politely? Did they ask you if everything was fine?
• You are to act like any normal customer. Enjoy yourself. Remember, you are now part of their team, not a police officer. You will be required to review the Mystery Client report before your visit so you know what you are looking for. We also require you to fill out the report as soon as possible after the visit and get it to us immediately.

Do not read the report while you are in the location — you will give the game away!

Mystery Clients must:

• Be 18 and over and of sound mind
• Have a valid bank account to be refunded by Paypal
• Have Internet, computer and printer access
• Have a telephone number where we can reach you
